It’s Memorial Day in the US, the day we honor our fallen soldiers. I think it was originally meant to honor those who died in wars (and somehow, we always forget to honor those who died in our Civil War), but it’s expanded in my lifetime to include service people who’ve died as well as those living and those still serving. So today, on this solemn occasion, Americans will be barbecuing! (Don’t ask me to explain it; so much about American culture is simply inexplicable.)

But, that doesn’t mean we’re shut down at CGP. Tomorrow, we’ll hear from a mom who finds joy in lifting heavy things–it’s a terrific post you don’t want to miss. Then, Friday, another funny.
