It’s not just the weather that’s crazy

One of my coping strategies is finding copious amounts of solitude. The polar vortex, therefore, is not my friend. Today and tomorrow have been declared no school days in my suburban paradise. More of my kids; less of my solitude. So, I’m mixing up the schedule this week.

I’ll be hunting for and publishing posts from other bloggers. Feel free to nominate your own favorites in keeping with this month’s communication theme. Thursday, I’ll publish a new piece on communicating with the most important person in my life: me. Self-talk is a crucial component in managing emotions. Particularly when I’m down, though, I’m much better at kicking myself than cheering for the home team.

How about you? How do you deal with self-talk? Are you better at building yourself up or tearing yourself down? Let me know in the comments.

Then, make sure you read this beautiful letter to a younger self from notthissong:
